Ex-BRTC boss gets 14 years for taking bribes

Thu, Jun 12th, 2008 4:52 pm BdST Dhaka, June 12 (bdnews24.com) - A Dhaka court has sentenced former chairman of Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) and BNP leader Taimur Alam Khandker to 14 years in prison for taking bribes. Anticorruption Commission deputy director, Md Golam Mostafa filed four separate cases of taking bribes against Taimur Alam on Aug 14 last year. The verdicts in two cases were delivered Thursday at the Special Judge's Court-9. Judge Khondker Kamal Uzzaman sentenced Taimur to 7 years in each case.
